2It does not take the beating well....  Dec 03, 2010 By H Koh
I can't use this product as often as I thought I would.

First, the plastic frame in which the body is bolted on to makes a lot of noise
during the workout making me costantly worry about my neighbors especially if I
want to work out at late hours. Second, I filled the base with water and yes, it
is very heavy.... However, if you put this on a carpet or a pad with less than
heavy friction surface, the whole thing will move backwards everytime you beat
at it. Even if you put it on a concrete surface, it will rock back and forth every
time you punch on it and eventually you will find it moved all the way to the wall.

So, unless you fill the base with sand, do not live in an apartment with "I go to
bed at 9" neighbors and plan to stage this equipment on a good friction surface...
I do not recommend this product.

5Great Training Aid - Highly Recommended!  Nov 05, 2010 By C. F. Hill "CFH"
We have three of these "Century BOB" bags at our Dojang and, next to sparring, working out on these is often the high point of my class. The ability to strike a realistic human form at full force is the best way to reinforce a new technique or to try out a combination for practicality.

The upper section is the human form (without arms) and is fairly realistic in size and mass of an adult male. The height is easily adjustable on the stand to simulate a range of sizes, from short to tall.

The bottom section is a hollow base that can be filled with sand (recommended) or water and weighs over 250lbs when full. It is still fairly easy to move around by tilting and rolling it.

Using the BOB (an acronym for "Body Opponent Bag") is easy once you get used to the idiosyncrasies, like it moving and rocking when hit (watch your toes under the base if doing close work), and the lack of arms, legs, or groin striking areas. We actually attach a kick shield, like Ultimate Kick Shield, to shaft (tied with a belt by the handles) and it does a great job of covering the base, allowing for knee strikes and lower kicks.

This is a great "focus" target for working on accuracy and strikes that need human anatomy to perfect (uppercuts, neck chops, headbutts, palm heal chin\nose strikes, etc), but does not replace the heavy bag for general kicking and punching workouts.

These have taken some serious beatings and have held up very well.

Highly Recommended

4Bad Ass Bob  May 13, 2012 By WildAl
Bad Ass Bob takes most hits like a champ! The only downside of this dummy would its inability to take serious power strikes or kicks. The first back kick drove this dummy half-way across my basement despite being full of water. Overall it was easy to put together and the quality is very good.

4Fun with constant maintainance  Mar 03, 2012 By intermediate but strong
I purchased this item to add variety to my workout. I'm really enjoying the diversity it adds but wish the screws to secure the torso to the post was better. I put on my favorite music and punch to the beat. Sometime during the 3rd song, I hear a screw fall out. I have to stop the wonderful rhythm and sweating I've got going, take off my gloves, find the screwdriver and replace the screws. I also have to re-tighten all the others because they're getting ready to fall out too. This is irritating but, I enjoy punching this guy so much that I will keep him. I just chalk the loose screws up to me having a more powerful punch than I realized. Also, you may need a 2nd person to help secure bob to the post as it's very difficult to hold the torso in place and screw the screws in at the same time.
I had no problem filling the base with sand because I had a plastic container, that after cutting a hole in the bottom to match the fill hole, made it very quick and easy. Bob is sitting on a small rug in my garage and stays in place, waiting for his next punch.

5BOB - fun for the whole family!  Jan 04, 2012 By alisonetillett
I bought this for my fiance for Christmas. It has become his favorite workout companion. Our children also enjoy being allowed to beat the crap out of something without getting in trouble. I have swung a few times...but I'm a feable woman. :)
