5Patch Attach Works Great For Me!  Sep 18, 2008 By Robert Mccloskey
I struggled with this product the first couple of times I used it, but ultimately I have found this to be an EXCELLENT product. Our Isshinryu school requires a very large patch on the front of the uniform, with smaller patches on each shoulder and lower front of gi. I have used this product successfully on four of my own gi's which get VERY sweaty and are frequently washed, and both of my children's uniforms as well. I have also attached all of my son's Royal Rangers scout group patches and badges to his uniform with great success. The oldest karate gi with patch attach is five years old now, and the patches are still holding strong! Here's a suggestion: Follow the directions, use a pre-heated iron on a linnen setting. Apply the heat for about a minute and a half through a wash cloth over the patch. Carefully remove the wash clothe and let the patch cool. Apply the heat again without the washcloth for another 30 seconds and let cool again. Turn garment inside out and apply heat to the back of the patch directly through the opposite side of the garment for another 30 seconds. This method has worked for me EVERY time.

4Wow...it actually works.  Aug 26, 2009 By Størmcrow
So I bought this stuff at a fabric store looking for an alternative to sewing a bunch of band patches onto my denim jacket...and must admit that I didn't have much hope for it.
So I followed the instructions on the back....and I got nothing. The patch didn't stick...it only dried the glue into a crusty powder. Amazing.
I decided to give it one more try using the instruction variations that fellow reviewer "Robert Mccloskey" said worked for him.
It actually does work. My hat's off to him, I don't know how he came up with his variations...but if you do hold an iron over a wash cloth with the patch under it for a a minute and thirty seconds...it generally sets the patch. Like he said, wait for it to cool...and then hold an iron directly on the patch for 30 seconds, and once that cools, iron the under-side of the fabric where the patch now lies.
It works.
I'm amazed.
I gave it 4 stars because I think it's pretty stupid that the company that made the product doesn't know how to use it...but a customer had to figure it out on his own. Thanks Mccloskey.
It's a much better alternative than spending $70+ at an alterations place.

5Great for Girl Scout uniforms  Aug 21, 2010 By Jennifer P.
I went online to find this product because I can't buy it at WalMart anymore. I have been using this product for several years for my two Girl Scouts' uniforms. I lead both their troops, so they have a LOT of patches! It works great on those fun patches that go on the back of the uniforms that have a cloth backing. If they have the plastic, non-iron-on coating it will not work and you will still have to sew them. It only works on the fabric backed ones. Also works great on the Junior (circle shaped) badges which unfortunately are not iron-on like the Brownie Try-Its. When WalMart stopped carrying this product I tried a product called Liquid Stitch which is just a regular glue, not an iron-on glue. Liquid stitch did not even last for 6 months, even without washing the vests/sashes. I need my Patch Attach!

I will say that I only wash the vests/sashes a couple of times a year, because the girls only wear them once a month or so for only a couple hours at a time. So the 4 uniforms with Patch Attach have only gone through the wash maybe 6 times total each, but they show NO signs of coming off at all. The uniforms are made of a nice thin material and I make sure I iron using high heat on the back of the vest until I see the Patch Attach glue starting to melt (some dark/wet spots on the back of the material). Then I know it is stuck on good and tight! And I have never had a problem.

5Complicated at first...  Feb 17, 2012 By JRich
I am a Girl Scout leader and I attach our patches to our uniforms. Some of our patches come as iron on, but most do not. I do not sew, I've been using hot glue. It doesn't always work. I read some reviews before purchasing. It is a little complicated in the beginning... Read the directions first! Our patches have a plastic backing and Patch Attach WILL NOT work on them. I had to remove the plastic, at least around the edges. Then add the liquid, let dry for 20 mins, very important step. It also takes a lot of heat. I ironed the patch from the back side, make sure they are placed where you want them. Then flipped it over and covered the patch with a towel and ironed it more. Haven't washed the uniforms yet, but the patches are not peeling off. Good sign!

2Not an alternative to ironing.  Feb 06, 2012 By C. Wiley
I ordered this thinking it would be cheaper than buying an iron to put on girl scout patches. The description does not inform you that you still need to iron the patch on after applying the glue. Might as well save your money and just iron it on.
